Issue 02: Child-Free Neighbor
Starting a family and having children has long been considered a defining milestone for success. But today, more people are questioning these societal norms. Do I need to follow the traditional path? Do I genuinely want kids, or is it just what’s expected of me? The title Childfree Neighbor is inspired by the chatter of nosy neighbors commenting on those who don’t have children—the so-called "odd ones out," a group that might represent the new normal in later years.
Childfree individuals are often misunderstood in a region where parenthood remains the norm. Meanwhile, they may struggle to comprehend why others choose to raise children in today’s world. This Childfree Neighbor cultural documentary magazine aims to bridge the gap, offering perspectives from both sides.
Talking about the childfree phenomenon may still be somewhat taboo in Southeast Asia, but it’s a conversation worth having. Let’s explore what it means to live childfree in a family-oriented society and its ripple effects—from aging populations and economic challenges to emerging business opportunities.
Let’s start the dialogue.

Issue 01: City Walker
Wonderwhy has been documenting micro-cultures digitally for over three years. We’ve asked and answered questions that are very close to home for our readers, like why some people need rice in all of their meals or how parents show love through a bowl of cut fruits. As time goes by, we wonder how our team could bring a greater impact to the community. A long contemplation leads to the conclusion that we should keep sharing culturally relevant stories, this time around Southeast Asia, as it has flourished and become highlighted on the global stage. Our book represents Southeast Asia and its people—a curated story from the perspective of the locals.
Still holding closely our essence of discussing everyday occurrences, we lift the spirit of city walkers. Southeast Asia might not have the most walkable districts, but the lively pedestrian scene comes with an irresistible charm one wouldn’t want to miss out. An increasing interest in creating pedestrian-friendly streets has also been a notable priority for the community as well as decision-makers. While reading this book, you can wonder why people live the lifestyle they’re choosing, what precisely contributes to making a walkable city, as well as the opportunities that come from these stories.
Explore the intricacies of daily life in Southeast Asia and get inspired by micro-cultures that will spark ideas and open doors for those seeking a deeper understanding of this thriving market. Whether you're a business owner, marketer, or someone curious about life in different locales, City Walker is your gateway.
